The Department of Transportation is providing $5 billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to fix or replace 13 critical bridges across the U.S. The largest grant, $1.4 billion, will replace an Interstate 5 bridge between Oregon and Washington. The story of the Blatnik Bridge connecting Minnesota and Wisconsin is the story of American infrastructure. The bridge is outdated and too corroded to allow safe passage of oversize or heavy trucks. With funding from the bipartisan #infrastructure law, the bridge will be replaced leading to tangible benefits for people, including fewer accidents, faster commutes, faster emergency response time, and better flow of goods, as well as construction jobs for the project.
