In fairness to Aqua, VV has been exhibiting some rapid and strange apparent personality shifts. I doubt she was anything like this even with her troops or she would have gotten found out and killed. Her control is slipping and she's flailing around as she adapts to the new environment.
Aqua's attempt at genre savvy backfiring and her well meaning grandma level thoughtless bigotry is on her. I can however understand how seeing someone who, from Aqua's limited perspective, seems like they've been growing increasingly distressed over the last few days popping in looking like Darth Vader Barbie winding up for a manic episode might indicate something is wrong.
It also is probably worth looking at how Aquamarine encountered Dark Whispers.
IE - Suddenly there was a voice talking in her head that wouldn't leave.

Aquamarine's neck tensed while she resisted the urge to duck her head in embarrassment. She refused to be humiliated by the manipulative witch invading her head.
'Would you believe me if I said I'd been invited?'
Aquamarine shot back, then stopped.
No, but even if I did, consent is supposed to revocable,
I said earlier that Dark Whispers had one very bad first impression. And that would do it. Because there appears to be two possibilities.
1. Someone else invited Dark Whispers in.
2. Aquamarine accidentally invited Dark Whispers in because she is from another world.
And probably Dark Whispers inadvertently stepped in it because I presume [unknown pronouns here] have standards when it comes to [pronouns] Avatar. And telling Aquamarine that she met said standards promptly convinced Aquarmarine that she was being buttered up and had already failed/identified as the weak link.

She'd been assuming that they were trying to avoid giving the Whispers power by discussing them outside the occasional joking allusion. However, Aquamarine's teammates were already better than her at being a Magical Girl in a lot of ways. Kinder, less aggressive, more forgiving, more skilled, all of that. They might not have been stuck in corners often enough for the Dark Whispers to remain at the forefront of their minds. Similarly, the Whispers might have identified Aquamarine as the weakest link and dedicated their efforts appropriately.
Aquamarine didn't see a way out of this. Her friends might, if she gave them what they needed.
"I realize that the Empire is backward in a lot of ways," Aquamarine started, willfully plowing her way into the conversation at hand. "Still, you do know that you aren't actually supposed to listen to the Dark Whispers or Dark Voices or whatever you call them when they tell you to conquer the Shaded Empire in their name, right? Ignoring the evil voices in your head is, like, the absolute basics of heroism. I thought I'd be the weakest link."
I think Aquamarine is a few streets down from Thyme. Thyme is trying to not be her father and fears that she is a monster to simplify things drastically. Aquamarine just thinks she's the screwup of the group. And that is absolutely coloring her impression of Nacht.
A big thing with Aquamarine is her taking a stance and refusing to adapt or change it. And one of the biggest for her appears to be her lack of ability to do stuff.
And from there - the idea that Nacht, a big name in the area is paying attention to Aquamarine is a good thing doesn't fit. So it "must" be a bad thing.
I am actually looking forward for Aquamarine getting it that yes, Nacht found her acceptable. (Admittedly the whole blocking of sunlight needed for farming problem makes me think that Aquamarine might not be the only one that suffers from "Did not think things through" issues)
